Deeside is a beautiful area, rich in historical sites, and abounding in opportunities for outdoor activities ranging from mountain biking, to hillwalking and climbing, to running, to wildlife safaris, to fishing and game stalking.

Aboyne itself is the centre for a summer cultural festival of music, arts, workshops and conversations with local, regional, national and international performers. The Aboyne and Deeside Festival runs from 1st - 31st July 2011 and the Aboyne Highland Games is always held on the first Saturday in August.

There are lots of other exciting activities which you could try out in the Aboyne area.

	The Deeside Gliding Club operates from an airstrip just two miles west of the village.  A trial flight may not have you soaring to the UK altitude record of almost 39,000 (held by a glider-pilot flying from Aboyne), but you should enjoy 10-30 minutes in the air.  Full details from the Deeside Gliding Club website
