Description

amanita muscaria abernethy 1 copyThough wild fungi are increasingly popular on restaurant menus, there are some fungi that are definitely not good to eat. If you like collecting fungi then this activity will give some practical information on what to look for to help you be more certain of your identifications.

But fungi are far more than an item on the menu: they include both the largest and some of the smallest organisms on the planet and together they are essential to the well being of every habitat on the Earth. We use them in many medicines and they put the fizz in fizzy drinks; even Father Christmas may have had a little help from one. Find out more about the Kingdom of the Fungi in this two hour walk with Liz Holden.
