Poet and novelist Andrew Greig uses a fishing trip to explore themes of love, loss, friendship and what it means to be Scottish. Shortly before his death, the much-loved poet Norman McCaig asked Greig to try to catch a fish for him at his favourite place, a remote austerely beautiful hill loch in the far North West Highlands of Scotland .

Even finding the spot has problems: the author has to win acceptance from the local guide before being directed to the site.
