| Lochnagar Guided Walk with the Balmoral & Glen Tanar Ranger Services | |
| Dark Lochnagar with its magnificent northern corrie
is the highest, most popular and the finest mountain of The Mounth - or perhaps
even of the Cairgorms as a whole. It was immortalised in verse by Lord Byron: 'Yet Caledonia, beloved are my mountains, Round their white summits though elements war; Though cataracts foam 'stead of smooth-flowing fountains, I sigh for the valley of dark Loch na Garr'. Come and enjoy a day on the hills - including the Munros of Broad Cairn and Cairn Bannoch. A great chance to see some typical mountain birds, including ptarmigan, dotteral, peregrine and raven. This is a long walk in the high tops - proper footwear and warm waterproof clothing is essential. Please bring plenty of food, a hot drink and drinking water. |
