| Burn O’Vat and Tarland -
Geological Walk The Burn O’ Vat area provides opportunities to examine geologically very recent glacial landforms as well as the much more ancient granite bedrock from which the Vat has been carved. We will then move on to the Tarland area where there are excellent exposures of sands and gravels deposited by melt water from the last glacier to occupy the Dee valley. |
|
| Large specimens of local rock will be
available for demonstration and displayed to illustrate the variety
of local rock types that underlie and create the landscapes of
Deeside. Will include some off track walking, please wear suitable shoes. |
